The second week of NBL Season 3 has flipped the script. Dynasties are cracking, underdogs are thriving, and new stars are being born across the league. Let’s break it all down.
Frost Falcons Hit Ice-Cold Start (0–2)
For the second time in Lil Nee’s career, the Frost Falcons sit winless after two games. Their first loss came to Beef Negative in a 6–4 battle where Nee fought solo after an early disconnect. The second loss? A shocking 10–9 overtime thriller against the Titans, where Lil Nee did not play, the first time ever he’s sat out a game in his NBL career. The Falcons’ alternate lineup nearly pulled off the upset, but it wasn’t enough. Still, this is a team loaded with talent, Lil Nee, Billiongrape, and Winter headline a roster that looks too good to stay cold for long. Nee’s absence showed leadership, giving his teammates the chance to shine, but one thing’s for sure: the Frost Falcons’ next game will be must-watch bobble.
Titans’ Rebuild Turns Revolutionary (2–0)
From worst team in the league to instant contenders, the Titans have completely rewritten their story. Their first game was a nail-biter, taking down the Frost Falcons 10–9 in overtime after Barry’s clutch goal forced OT. But it was their second game that made league history. In a 13–2 demolition of OPO, Spark, team captain, owner, and now record-holder, went absolutely ballistic, scoring 13 points, breaking Mr. Bush’s previous record by two, and surpassing ACN’s original mark by three. Spark’s statement game cemented him as one of the league’s premier scorers, and with new teammate Negha in the mix, the Titans are suddenly looking like a legitimate threat to run the table.
The Herd Finding Their Groove (1–1)
After a rough rookie season, The Herd are starting to look dangerous. Led by Nev, the Season 3 No. 2 overall pick, and defensive leader Mr. Bush, the Herd opened their year with a commanding 9–0 win before dropping their second matchup while testing new lineups including new signing Brick. Nev continues to impress, flashing scoring instincts reminiscent of ACN, while Mr. Bush remains the team’s emotional core and defensive anchor. A .500 record at this point might not sound flashy, but compared to last season’s struggles, this team has leveled up in every way.
Beef Negative Is Back (2–0)
Predicted by some to be the worst team in the league after ACN’s retirement, Beef Negative has instead come out swinging with a 2–0 record and major momentum. The team’s front office has worked magic, constructing one of the most balanced rosters in the league. Gdrix, Goldkiller, and Hakirara have all made immediate impacts, and their depth has allowed for flexible lineups that keep opponents guessing. With Sunnymoo stepping up as the league’s most impressive rookie debut and Hakirara fitting in perfectly, Beef Negative looks far more dangerous than anyone expected.
OPO’s Struggles Continue (0–2)
OPO’s offense remains a mystery. After ending last season on a three-game shutout streak, they opened this season with another game where they failed to score a single point. In Game 2, though, there were signs of life. Whittyquipo notched a quick two-pointer, and Hank came through with a pair of clutch saves, showing the defensive potential that made OPO competitive last year. Still, an 0–2 start has them searching for answers, and maybe a bit of confidence, before it’s too late.
League Update: Star Cap Expansion & Superteam Era
The league office has officially updated the star cap, allowing for more talent per roster, and teams are taking full advantage. The Frost Falcons and Titans have built superteam-caliber lineups, loading up with elite players:
Frost Falcons: Lil Nee, Billiongrape, Winter
Titans: Spark, Barry, Negha
Both teams are stacked, but with opposite results so far. The Titans are 2–0 and red-hot, while the Falcons are 0–2 and searching for rhythm. But never count out Lil Nee, the mastermind always has a plan.
The league is shifting fast stars rising, legends stumbling, rookies making statements. If this is what Week 2 looks like… Season 3 might be the most unpredictable NBL season yet.
